Erika and Nathan

Erika grew up in the great San Joaquin Valley of California before heading east to attend Grove City College. Her bachelor’s in English equipped her to teach ESL in China for three years, during which she earned a master's at Lee University. She returned to the U.S. to teach ESL at the college level in Pittsburgh before earning a Master of Arts in Religion at Trinity School for Ministry, and a Masters of Arts in Counseling at Geneva College. The call to The Slow Work runs true to Erika's loves of community, good books, making beautiful things, coffee, travel, and awkward cross-cultural interactions. Email Erika here.

Nathan earned a bachelor’s in Business Management from Grove City College in 2000. He put that to use for 23 years managing businesses small and large, and launching a gap year ministry with Erika before answering the call to The Slow Work. Naturally inclined to quiet, he becomes animated when talk turns to bikes, black coffee, skiing, climbing, Wendell Berry, and early-‘80s Toyota trucks. Nathan is also a practicing Spiritual Director, seeing directees in person and on zoom. Email Nathan here.

Nate and Erika love to include their four children in their ministry journey.
